Brilliance raises €6 million to scale its RGB laserchips

Brilliance has raised €6 million to accelerate development and scale-up of its integrated RGB laserchip technology. The round is led by Cottonwood Technology Fund, with participation from PhotonVentures, Oost NL and PhotiX.

What the round is for

The funding covers three things at once: continuing to scale development of the laserchip platform, designing custom solutions for customers, and preparing for a first production launch targeted for the end of 2026. It is the step from a technology that works to a product that ships in volume.

Why it matters for AR

Brilliance integrates red, green and blue laser sources with silicon-nitride photonic circuits on a single chip, replacing the bulky optical assemblies conventional light engines are built from. That is what brings power consumption down, brightness up for outdoor use, and field of view wider — while supporting more than one display architecture.

The same approach reaches past AR glasses: automotive head-up displays and industrial laser systems have the same problem with size, efficiency and integration.

The round follows the €2 million seed investment from PhotonVentures and Oost NL in November 2023.
